Nigeria’s Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe on Tuesday, dealing another blow to their ambitions of qualifying for the World Cup.
This took place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State,
Nigeria entered the match hoping to gain momentum in their qualifying campaign after defeating Rwanda 2-0.
However, despite controlling the ball and generating early opportunities, Eric Chelle’s team found it difficult to overcome a determined Zimbabwean defence.

The breakthrough came in the 74th minute after constant pressure.
Ever the poacher, Victor Osimhen gave Nigeria the lead by deftly nodding in a low cross from Moses Simon.
Zimbabwe almost lost due to a lack of focus at the defence, hitting the crossbar before tying the score in the ninetieth minute.
