Nigeria defeated Rwanda 2-0 on Friday in their CAF World Cup qualifying Group C match, with two goals from Victor Osimhen.
Ademola Lookman’s lethal cross gave the Super Eagles the lead in the eleventh minute, and Osimhen began the scoring.
In the first half, the attacker extended Nigeria’s lead in stoppage time (45+3′), giving his team a crucial victory.
Following an altercation during the game, Wilfred Ndidi of Nigeria was booked in the 49th minute, while D. Bizimana of Rwanda was given a yellow card in the 46th.

Rwanda only managed two efforts on goal, struggling to penetrate Nigeria’s defence despite having 45% of the ball.

Nigeria’s chances of qualifying are maintained as the win moves them up to fourth position in Group C with six points from five games.
With 10 points, South Africa is presently leading the group, followed by Benin (8 points) and Rwanda (7 points).
Nigeria will now focus on their next games in an attempt to move up the standings and guarantee a berth in the following round of the qualifying campaign.
