Fans of Enugu Rangers could not control their disappointment after match-day 36 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) against Shooting Stars (3SC).
The game which ended in a 2-2 draw at the Awka City Stadium witnessed some drama when the angry fans threw objects at the coaching crew in protest of the score line.
Rangers took the lead in the 46th minutes through Asiegbu before Nwalobodo made it two nill at the 56th minutes.
Omoduemuke scored twice at the 73rd and 88th minutes to give 3SC a point in the game.
Speaking to The Union Nigeria in an interview after the game, Coach Agoye Edito Olumide of 3SC said, “It was a very difficult game for us because Rangers is a very strong team. Their position on the table is not by mistake and they have one of the best coaches in Nigerian Football.
“We created many chances and converted two. We knew we are coming to face a very formidable team here in Awka and they lived up to expectation. We came with a game plan which we tried to execute and at the end of the game, we are happy with the result.
“Last weekend in Ibadan against Abia warriors, we were leading with two goals, they came from behind and equalized. It was a difficult one for us to take.
“We have learnt from the mistakes we made, and have replicated the same thing here today which means the mistake we made last week have been corrected here. We will improve as time goes on.
Speaking on their next game 3SC coach said, “Rivers United as we already know are the champions and are the toughest side in Nigeria Football.
“It won’t be an easy game for us but with the result of today and the character the players showed, we will give everything against Rivers United and hopefully we will take the three points.
Speaking about the Awka Stadium he said “The pitch is very good. If you don’t know how to play, then come and play in this stadium, it will make you a better player.
The General Manager of 3SC Olamaji Lawal on his part said the team deserves to go home with one point. Our next game is against already crowned league champions Rivers United, I believe in possibilities.
“If we can come here and get a draw from Rangers, against Rivers United, we can get three points. We are taking the game one by one and I am assuring our fans that we will survive this battle.” He stated.
