Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, has informed Siminalayi Fubara, his successor, that there is no indication that he will be the next governor.
Speaking to a sizable gathering of his supporters in the state on Saturday, Wike said the governor had surrounded himself with those who did not have the best interests of the state in mind.
According to him, those were the same individuals who wanted the position he gave to Fubara at all cost, but he turned them down.

Similarly, about the Supreme Court’s decision requiring him to re-present the 2025 budget to the 27 parliamentarians led by Martin Amaewhule and to re-conduct the state’s local government polls, Wike made fun of Fubara by claiming that the governor was already down 2-0.

“You [Fubara] surrounded yourself with people who wanted to be governor, whom I said ‘no, these people don’t mean well for Rivers State.’
“They are the ones surrounding you, giving you advice. Do you think you will succeed?
“They will give bad advice, and look at what bad advice is doing to you. You are already down 2-0, and there’s more to come.”
