In support of Rivers State’s emergency rule, some women in Port Harcourt are presently doing a solidarity walk.
The swarm of ladies are also expressing support for Ibok-Ete Ibas, the only administrator of Rivers, while wearing white and holding up signs that read, “prosecute the bombers of Rivers assembly, state of emergency is constitutional.”
In Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state, the ladies are marching along key thoroughfares while chanting slogans and songs of support.
On April 11, a group of women in Rivers demonstrated against President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of emergency rule in the state and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.


During last Friday’s protest, the anti-emergency rule women implored prominent Nigerians, including former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Muhammadu Buhari, and Goodluck Jonathan, to intervene in the restoration of democratic governance in Rivers.
On March 18, Tinubu declared emergency rule in the oil-rich state, citing a protracted political crisis.

He also suspended Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all members of the Rivers assembly for an initial period of six months.
The president immediately appointed Ibas, a retired naval chief, as the state’s sole administrator.
