The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party has been called to a meeting by two prominent members of the party: Abia State Governor Alex Otti and 2023 presidential contender Peter Obi.
On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the NEC meeting is planned to take place in Abuja.
An interactive town hall meeting with key stakeholders and other party organs will take place at the Transcorp Hilton concurrently with the NEC meeting, according to a notification released by Obi and Otti.

The notice was signed by Ibrahim Umar, the POMR spokesman and forwarded to The Intercept.
According to Umar, stakeholders listed to attend include the vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 election, serving and former senators and senatorial candidates of the LP in the 2023 election, serving and former members of the House of Representatives and LP House of Representatives candidates in the 2023 election, all members of the National Caretaker Committee and NTC, all former governorship candidates who are still in the party, representatives of the NLC/TUC Political Commission, and all members of the former LP National Working Committee.
