Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is not finding it easy with the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa led government even as several political pundits in Delta State have condemned his recent efforts to allegedly expose the rot in the government.
Senator Nwaoboshi was quoted to have thrown jabs at Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, at the weekend, when he played host to his supporters in Ibusa after a Lagos Court Sitting cleared him of corruption charges.
Nwaoboshi was quoted to have said that former Governors James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan, performed better than the incumbent Ifeanyi Okowa.
He said, “I am a PDP Senator but I have to tell you the truth. Urhobo and Itsekiri Governors performed credibly well than our own Anioma Governor.”
“What has the Anioma Governor done for Asaba people to show that he loves Asaba more than the Delta Central people? Don’t allow selfish people to bring division between us and Delta Central people.
“I challenge anyone to a debate that Uduaghan loves Asaba more than our Anioma Governor anytime and anywhere. His legacy in Asaba speaks volumes. It’s the turn of Delta Central to produce the next Governor of Delta State”, Nwaoboshi stated.
Reacting to the statement, former Minister of Education, Kenneth Gbagi has accused Senator Nwaoboshi of selective amnesia, stating that “from the foot bridge of Onitsha to Warri, Isoko, Isiokolo, we have not seen what we are seeing now.”
“Today I drive to Oginigbo. It was not like that before. My road was constructed without even consulting me.”
“Before now, Asaba was more of a bush compared to what we have now. If we compare what the state received in other governments, the difference is clear.”
“There is no single local government without ten roads, considering the resources.
“Okowa is from your place. But I just have to believe what the bible says that a prophet has no respect in his home. That man (Okowa) has done miracles.” Gbagi said.
Gbagi also alleged that the actions of Nwaoboshi were tilting towards anti-party, adding that, “I don’t know if you are still in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but some of these your comments are very hostile. We formed this party. All of this bickering will not help us.”
