The People’s Democratic Party’s candidate for the 2021 governorship election in Anambra state, Mr Valentine Ozigbo has described his choice of running mate as the best combination based on the variables that were considered during the selection process.
Mr Ozigbo disclosed this while presenting Mrs Enemo to the Anambra media community comprising notable journalists and social media influencers.
According to Mr Ozigbo, the variables he considered include a candidate with strong Anglican background to achieve the desired denominational spread, experience in public sector administration, need to give opportunity for greater women participation in the electoral process, the geographical spread required in the political zoning system and as well as inter-party acceptability needed to win a general election.
He told the media parley that Mrs Azuka Enemo fulfilled all these parameters satisfactorily.
He maintained that no godfather or group of people imposed the former commissioner for Local Government Affairs on him as being insinuated in some quarters. “I decided to run with Mrs. Enemo because of her integrity and large support base. Nobody imposed her on me
I’m an independent minded person. I don’t believe in godfatherism, not even Peter Obi, Tony Elumelu or any other individual.”
Mrs Enemo is a very experienced local government administrator, who rose through the civil service ladder to become Head of Local Government Administration for Njikoka LGA, later, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, for two terms (under Governors Peter Obi and Willie Obiano).
“It is therefore expected that the duo of Mr Ozigbo with his private sector management background and Mrs Enemo with her experience in public sector administration will provide excellent leadership and good governance for the state if elected.
Mrs Azuka Enemo is an indigene of Onitsha in the Anambra North senatorial zone and married to Nnokwa community in Idemili South LGA of the Central senatorial zone.
