A governorship aspirant in Delta State, Mr Sheriff Mulade has withdrawn from the race ahead of the 2023 elections.
The rationale behind the decision has not been made known to the public, The Union Nigeria has learnt.
Chief Mulade had announced his withdrawal from the contest in a Press Statement personally signed by him, which he dedicated to his late mother, Madam Ebikeseiye Christiana Mulade (Nee Timiyan) who died on the 27th October, 2021.
When The Union Nigeria reached out to him, he said, “I withdraw and dedicate my political ambition to my late mother.
“The reason for my withdrawal is to mourn my mother properly. The best way to honor her is to dedicate my highest political ambition of 2023 to her, and to enable me put my house and siblings in order because she has been the one playing that role.
“Now that she is not there, she has left a great vacuum which I have to struggle to close. I appreciate my followers and supporters for standing by me. 2023 is not the end of the world.
“I believe subsequent opportunity will come up were we will be able to galvanize our strength again.
“My political advisers and supporters have been consulted before the decision and they are in tune.” He said.
