The supreme court judgment, affirming the candidacy of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori is a watershed victory that should be accepted and celebrated by the Edevwie group as a victory for the People’s Democratic Party which they have invested enormous good will and resources in building over the years.
The fact is that in any contest, only one party is bound to win, so not winning this judicial contest should not detract from the passion and faith you have for the party. All well discerning observers do acknowledge your passion and belief in the philosophy and programmes of the party as the underlying oxygen behind the court action to own the mandate of the party for the 2023 governorship election.
So irrespective of today’s verdict, others like you who also share in the philosophy of the party cannot but make this passionate appeal for a regrouping as one indivisible family with a renewed vigour and determination to contribute to the victory of all the candidates being sponsored for the various elective offices.
The sustained calumnious campaign of the past three months against Sheriff Oborevwori has achieved one unintended benefit of making him the most talked about and referenced governorship candidate in the state.
And it is a popularity that will assist him to coast to victory seamlessly in the main election just like the judicial victory recorded today against the expectation of persons who regaled in spewing negatives against him and their social media verdicts now belied by his resounding victory at the apex court.
Even for those of you who out of personal relationship with his erstwhile opponent or transferred hate fought against him in the social media, your support is equally solicited going into the main election and your change of base will certainly profit the state in the kind of innovations that shall hallmark Oborevwori ‘s administration.
There is strength and candour in subsuming personal aspirations in the overall interest of the party. Changing position is neither akin to flipflopping nor instability of convictions.
To facilitate the speedy reconciliation process, may it be urged on the state leadership of the party to set the necessary machinery in motion to wrap up the togetherness required to give the party a resounding victory in the gubernatorial election
For the not so successful in the judicial contest, the doggedness and courage you deployed in prosecuting the court case through the entire hog is admirable and it is humbly requested that same be deployed in prosecuting the main election for the People’s Democratic Party you so much cherish.
