Some members of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, abroad are reportedly boycotting the church over their silence on bigotry at the 18 March election.
A media personality, SizZzle, revealed this on Twitter on 22 March, 2023.
According to the tweep “RCCG churches overseas are Recording a huge reduced Turnout in Members since the events of 18th March 2023. 🤔 And its Not only Igbos; Many tribes, their fellow Yorubas included are VERY angry with them & not showing up for service. Some outrightly Leaving to NEVER return. 😢🇳🇬”
His tweet has garnered mixed reactions from the members of the church and other tweeps.
@oladeeone said he is one of those that stopped attending.
“I’m one of those that stopped attending. It’s the only African church that I know in my city. When I’m ready to go back to church, I’ll find an oyinbo church.”
“Not sure I have left sha. But have not been to church in a while. Not just happy with the whole thing since before the elections. The fact that they did not publicly throw their weight behind a C/M ticket still baffles me,” @datfinewoman tweeted.
@movingtrain01 said: “This is just the beginning o. When new Nigeria Project starts fruiting, more eyes will be opened!” while toniaangel said: “I can’t wait for hubby to tell me babe let’s leave.”
