Kaduna State Government yesterday said personnel of the Nigerian Army killed nine armed bandits during a firefight late Monday night into the early hours of Tuesday along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Homes Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement, said troops, acting on intelligence, laid ambush and killed the bandits in a gun duel.
He said a search of the area after the firefight revealed that eight bandits were killed and their bodies recovered.
In a separate feedback, Aruwan said Army and Police officers also foiled another attempt by bandits to cross the Kaduna-Abuja highway with rustled cattle around Greenfield University.
He added that the troops engaged the criminals in a firefight and killed one bandit.
