In a new assault by armed herders on the Agbo Vengav community of Udam in the Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, seven people—including women and children—were verified dead, and several more were reported missing.
The Intercept learnt that the suspected herdsmen attacked the village at about 1:00 am on Friday, resulting in the new fatalities.
According to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity, a young daughter was slain when the Fulani herders took her mother away, and it is still unknown where she is today.

The sources further said the assailants came in the middle of the night when people had retired to bed and started attacking the community.
“The attack on the community started around 1:00 am on Friday; the number of bodies recovered was seven and a search for missing people was still ongoing,” a source hinted.
