Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has assured the family of late Hon. Okechukwu Okoye (Okey di Okey) that the killers of the lawmaker will be brought to book.

Speaking at the valedictory session held at plenary on Tuesday, the governor said, “We are not sleeping until we clear our state of criminals and already we are winning this war against insecurity and everywhere they are we shall continue to hunt them down. We are combing bushes to get them and they will all be brought to book.
“This is not the behavior of our people where idolatry is over taking Christianity. This is one death, too many. This will be the last. We are already taking the fight to those criminals masquerading themselves in the fight for liberation.
“Shockingly everywhere that they have been found, shrines are being worshiped. The seventh assembly will have to stand by the government and make laws that will enable this fight.
“I commiserate with the young family Hon. Okechukwu Okoye left behind and by extension ndi-Isuofia, may God grant his soul eternal rest.

“May I on behalf of the State House Of Assembly, commiserate the Okoye’s family of Isuofia in Aguata LGA of Anambra state on the painful death of their son and one of us, late Okechukwu Okeye who represented Aguata 2 constituency.
“His death is still shocking to us and the entire Ndi-anambra. The late Okechukwu Okoye can best be described as finest, outspoken and articulated lawmakers.
“His sense of humor and human disposition distinguished him amongst his colleagues. He was indeed a man of the people and a selfless politician.
“This legislative institution, Aguata LGA and the state government has lost a personality of many attribute, whose peaceful disposition attracted both his colleagues and staffs of the institution to him.
“The late Okechukwu Okoye was a devoted Christian, a known choir master in the Catholic Church who worshipped God extensively with songs of praise. He was a man of God.
“I urge you all to take consolation on the fact that the life of our late colleagues was full of service to God and humanity. May his gentle soul rest in peace with the Lord” Okafor prayed
It will be recalled that Okechukwu Okeye was kidnapped at 15th May 2022 and was gruesomely murdered by gunmen in a horrible and barbaric manner.
