Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have murdered ten firewood fetchers and two vigilantes in the Bokko Ghide hamlet in Borno state’s Gwoza local government area.
The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, acknowledged the tragedy and clarified that the attackers attacked and murdered the vigilantes (Civilian JTF) near Kirawa Road in Pulka District.
Additionally, he clarified that the ten additional casualties were people who ventured into the wilderness to get firewood.
According to the Emir, on Saturday, the youngsters (insurgents) attacked the firewood fetchers who had gone to a neighbouring bush in quest of firewood, killing 10 of them and leaving two critically injured.
He said that they buried the 10 and evacuated the injured victims to Maiduguri for medical attention.

According to him, “It’s very sad that two of my Civilian JTF members, who sacrificed their lives for my people, were also killed on Friday.”
He asked God to give them Janatul Firdaus in return for their sacrifices, as well as to give their family and the community the strength to deal with the loss.
He praised the military and state government for their unwavering efforts to combat the Boko Haram insurgency, adding that they have been handling the situation to the best of their abilities for more than ten years.
But in order to put an end to the issue, he wants the military to use technical warfare, such as drones and other advanced weaponry.
The Emir saw that many are now afraid to go to their farmlands since the rainy season is almost here.
