A video footage of George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service in Rivers State, being instructed on how to approach media has surfaced online amid rumours that he was under duress when making the latest accusations against Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State.
Nwaeke made some startling accusations against Governor Fubara during a news conference on Friday, according to The Intercept.
Nwaeke said, among other things, that Fubara planned the bombing of the State House of Assembly complex.
The former Head of Service said that the Rivers administration had schemes to overthrow the administration of President Bola Tinubu and that Fubara intended to demolish oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta.
His wife, Florence Nwaeke, requested assistance on her husband’s whereabouts shortly after the press conference.
Mrs. Florence voiced concerns for her husband’s safety in an interview with reporters late Friday, claiming that Nwaeke could have been coerced into making the accusations.
“When he got to Abuja, he called that he had landed. I said, Thank God,” she said.
However, she said she later saw an online interview granted by her husband, which she found suspicious.
“I said, ‘That is not my husband. That is not my husband.’

“So I sent him a message. I said, ‘Are you under duress?’ I sent him a message. I said, ‘Have they kidnapped you? Talk to me now. Why are you not talking to me?’ This is the message I sent to him when I saw his interview online,” she said.
She added, “Oh, Jesus, help me. Nigerians, help me. My husband is in trouble. My husband is in trouble. My husband is in trouble. My husband is in trouble.
The pre-address video clip has fueled speculations that the allegations were politically motivated.
In the video, a voice could be heard from the background telling the former Head of Service to “read from the text I wrote”.
