Mahmud Jega, a Political analyst and former appointee of President Bola Tinubu, has stated that Simeon Amadi, the chief judge of Rivers State, impedes the state House of Assembly’s attempt to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office.
In an analysis of the political turmoil engulfing Rivers State and the role played by Nyesome Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Jega, made this statement on Arise Television.
He pointed out that the parliamentarians who supported the FCT Minister were laying traps for the governor in an attempt to find a concrete justification for starting the impeachment procedure.
Remember how Wike stated on Saturday that he had no intention of preventing the members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
The Assembly has the authority to impeach the governor if he is judged to be deficient, according to The Intercept.

In an effort to be loyal to the FCT minister, the lawmakers—roughly 27 of them—have been at odds with Governor Fubara.
The Supreme Court recently ruled in favour of the lawmakers, led by Martin Amaewhule, and mandated that they return to their legislative responsibilities.
Additionally, the governor was directed to hold new local council elections and deliver the 2025 budget to the whole Assembly.
The legislators were not sufficiently apprised of his arrival, so they shut him out when he showed up at the state legislature on Thursday to represent the budget.

There are rumours that most lawmakers are planning to remove the governor from office.
“The Rivers State assembly members are loyal to Wike and bent on impeaching Fubara,” Jega said.
“The assembly members are setting traps for Governor Fubara to commit an impeachable offense.
“Their only obstacle is the chief judge of Rivers, who they are now going after,” he added.
The Rivers State House of Assembly has planned to look into allegations of age falsification against Justice Simeon Amadi, the state chief judge, according to The Intercept.
