Three individuals were taken into custody by the Osun State Police Command on Monday for possessing guns and violating restrictions in areas impacted by intercommunal conflicts in the state.
The command added that weapons-related exhibits were found among the individuals detained in the impacted areas.
The state leadership was forced to extend the previous 12-hour curfew to a 24-hour restriction of movement in the impacted towns on Saturday after what began as border conflicts between the villages of Ifon and Ilobu in the early hours of Friday expanded to Erin Osun.
To avoid being killed, many of the displaced citizens had to escape to Okinni, Osogbo, and Ido Osun after several homes in the three villages were destroyed.

Giving an update on the security situation in the affected communities in a statement obtained in Osogbo, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer for Osun Command, Adeola Adeoye, assured that the “Command in collaboration with personnel of other security agencies would prevent further bloodshed and breakdown of law and order through strict enforcement of the 24 hours curfew declared by Governor Ademola Adeleke in the areas affected.”
The statement further read, “Persistent animosities between Ifon and Ilobu towns reappeared in the early hours of March 21, 2025 and subsequently spread to Erin-Osun.

The Osun State Command led by Commissioner of Police Mohammed Umar Abba, has ordered the deployment of Officers and Men to the warring areas to restore peace, law, and order by its primary duty of protecting lives and properties.
“So far, three (3) suspects have been arrested in breach of the curfew armed with a dane gun. A thorough investigation will be conducted and suspects will be charged to court for prosecution accordingly.
“The Command is equally monitoring the situation closely to fish out all the trouble makers and their sponsors to ensure that they face the wrath of the law.”
