For the forthcoming Sallah holiday, the Gwaram Local Government Council in Jigawa State has bought 100 bundles of cloth to give to 600 male orphans.
According to the council chairman, Prof Abdurrahman Lawan, this initiative aims to enable the beneficiaries to have a joyous celebration.
Shortly after a meeting with local traditional leaders on Sunday, Lawan, also the Jigawa state chairman of the Association of Chairmen of Local Government of Nigeria, made the announcement.
Professor Abdulrahman Lawan asserts that 100 orphans were chosen from each local district to receive the cloth.
He went on to say that N600,000 had been set aside by the council to pay for sewing the clothes.

The council’s dedication to promoting the well-being of orphans was highlighted by the chairman.
Lawan stressed that this initiative is part of the council’s efforts to ensure that the orphans have a memorable Sallah celebration like others.
In addition to providing clothes for the male orphans, Lawan said that the council has also distributed garments to orphan girls across the area.

“Our council has also provided 36 bags of pasta, four sacks of millet, and four sacks of maize to the 76 village heads in the domain.”
“This move demonstrates the council’s dedication to supporting the most vulnerable members of their community,” he added.
In a remark, the District Head of Fagam (Katikan Dutse), Auwal Adamu, praised the leadership of the council for its commitment to caring for orphans.
“This donation aims to alleviate food insecurity and promote economic empowerment within the community,” Katikan Dutse explained.
