Prof. Attahiru Jega, a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, has been appointed Presidential Adviser and Coordinator of Presidential Livestock Reforms by President Bola Tinubu.
This appointment was made on Friday.
it was confirmed by Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, using his verified X account.
“Breaking: President Bola Tinubu appoints Professor Attahiru Jega as Presidential Adviser and Coordinator of Presidential Livestock Reforms,” Onanuga wrote.
Jega served as INEC chairman from 2010 to 2015.

Tinubu established the Ministry of Livestock Development in July 2024 to provide sector-focused solutions to the long-standing farmers-herders crisis.

The Ministry of Livestock Resources is expected to drastically reduce the decades-long violent conflict between farmers and nomadic cattle herders across the country in response to a suggestion made by the National Livestock Reforms Committee.
