Drivers in Ogun State have been cautioned by the state Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps to avoid transporting combustible materials like petrol that might cause fire explosions during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The warning was given by Mr. Wasiu Ogunmefun, the FRSC’s Ota Unit Commander, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Ota, Ogun.
He underlined the importance of the warning in promoting festival safety.
He clarified that the warning’s main objective was to lower the possibility of roadside fires and explosions, which might result in fatalities and property damage.
Because the Lagos-Abeokuta Motorway was still being built, Ogunmefun further urged drivers to be patient and drive carefully.
“We urge motorists not to carry anything that has the potential to ignite a fire to prevent mishaps on the highway during this period.

”Additionally, they should avoid overspeeding and refrain from driving against traffic to ensure the safety of all road users,” he said.
Additionally, Ogunmefun advised against overloading cars as this might weaken them and raise the possibility of collisions.
He also stated the need to avoid carrying people and animals together, stating that FRSC officers would arrest anyone seen doing so.

He emphasised how crucial it is for drivers to work with FRSC officers, who have been sent in to maintain traffic safety, reduce congestion, and handle emergencies on the Lagos-Abeokuta Motorway.
