At least 26 people, including four women and six children, have been killed following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack along the Rann–Kala Balge to Gamboru Ngala road in Borno State.
The event occurred on Monday, April 28, 2025, at around 11:00 a.m.
Multiple civilian cars driving from Rann, in Kala Balge Local Government Area, towards Gamboru Ngala were affected by a series of bombs put along the route, according to security analyst and counterinsurgency specialist Zagazola Makama.
Three different people sustained varying degrees of injuries in the incident, security sources said.
The report claims that the convoy unintentionally went into an area where the IEDs had been planted carefully.
Vehicle movement set off the explosives, which caused immediate and serious injuries.

Emergency response teams were deployed promptly to the scene to carry out an evacuation and provide medical assistance to the wounded.
