A 50-year-old businessman was arrested by the Bauchi State police command on suspicion of culpable homicide after a deadly domestic altercation with his second wife, who is 24 years old.
In a statement released on Sunday, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the command spokesperson, stated that the event took place in Fadaman-Mada Area of the State amid a dispute over fruits and other items intended to break the Ramadan fast.

Mr Wakil stated. “Reports indicate that the argument escalated, leading to the husband allegedly flogging his wife with a cane. She reportedly collapsed and lost consciousness within their home. Authorities rushed the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced her dead. The command has launched a full investigation and has taken the suspect into custody.’’

According to Mr. Wakil, the corpse was placed in a mortuary while an autopsy was conducted, and the cane that was reportedly used in the assault had been found as evidence.
He claims that Auwal Musa, the Commissioner of Police, assured the public of the command’s commitment to justice by highlighting the seriousness of domestic abuse as a crime with dire repercussions.
He said, “The police command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens while holding perpetrators of criminal acts accountable.’’
