The traditional leader of Olokoro’s Umutowe autonomous community, Eze Godfrey Onwuka, has expressed astonishment and grief over the reported suicide of Chukwuka Nwosu, a 37-year-old man.
He said that the community was collaborating closely with the police to look into the cause of death and called the act “ungodly and unfortunate.”
According to earlier reports, Nwosu, a resident of Itaja Obuohia, left his family home at approximately one in the morning, drove along the Olokoro/Amaba Oboro road, parked his Toyota Corolla by the side of the road and then hanged himself on a building at one of the higher education institutions in the area.
The traditional ruler claims that after being notified, the Umuahia South police and the Department of State Services, or DSS, hurried to the location.

According to a statement from Eze Onwuka’s palace, the police have placed Nwosu’s remains in the mortuary and are still conducting an investigation.
While expressing sympathy to the deceased’s family, the traditional monarch asked the populace to maintain composure and refrain from enforcing the law themselves, instead allowing the pending investigations to continue.
In order to make Abia one of the safest states in the federation, he reaffirmed the community’s support for the state government’s initiatives.
