Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Women Wing, the apex Igbo socio- cultural group, has appealed to political leaders in the country to listen to the cry of our youths and sincerely address the problems and difficulties facing the south east region.
Briefing newsmen, The President General of the group women wing Worldwide, led by Hon. Chief Rita Daniels Chukwuji ( Ochiudo) explained that the igbos are rich in diverse culture, there is need for unity and peace in the nation
As mothers we are appealing to the youths to shun violence, bloodshed, killings and kidnapping this we believe cannot take us to anywhere”
She added that the Ohaneze women are calling on our leaders based on the lockdown and sit at home order affecting the South east states, “If we don’t go out to trade, how do we feed our families and younger ones? We are also fighting for the wellbeing of our people, two wrongs can never make a right” she stressed.
While appealing to the Federal government on the need to release our brothers who are in custody, she said, nobody is perfect, they are agitating for a reason and war cannot bring peace, all we need is peace and we are asking for dialogue.
According to her, the youths are the future of tomorrow the same people that are being detained are our sons who are depressed and unemployed on our street, looking for daily bread.
“Let there be stability in south east. I believe the issue of employment needs to be tackled because many of our youths are job hunters’
While we equally maintain that the demands of our youths needs to be focused on, we advised youths to constructively engaged with government to constructively engaged with government towards meeting other genuine demand of theirs”
“We appeal to the youths to forgive their leaders wherever they have failed them because we will go back to the drawing board.”
She said, “Igbos are one anywhere we go. We are hardworking, committed and gifted with special gifts let’s learn to love ourselves.”
She urged the royal father and Leaders to look into the lives of our youths and give them listening ears with a view to moving the nation forward.
She insisted that everyone should learn from #EndSars protest that almost killed our youths as she called for restructuring of Nigeria remained the solution to the challenges being encountered by many people.
She advised young people in the Eastern region to resist violence, avoid people heightening tensions and urged them to ask such polical gladiators brewing crisis to bring out their own children to lead the way in such crisis
She urged all political leaders instigating crisis in the country against our brothers to remember that they too are not saints, as history is there to prove that.
The president further disclosed that the group will embark on a mission known as Operation Pray Out Our Various land with the first lady of each of the south east states.
