Benin- Worried about the present state of the nation, a Youth Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Isoko North, Delta State, Amb. Egwu Oghenero Alakpodia has called on the federal government to immediately embark on initiatives capable of ameliorating the hardship faced by Nigerians.
Alakpodia made the call on Monday while speaking to Journalists in his office in Benin, noting that the nation’s problems required concerted efforts.
He urged the federal government to quickly involve all stakeholders in the bid to bring about a lasting solution to the current hardship and crisis.
Decrying the falling value of the naira, Alakpodia noted that the current situation is making hard for small businesses to strive and even medium scales business now find it difficult to restock due to dollar fluctuations, urging monetary and fiscal authorities to find appropriate solutions to the challenges.
He harped on the need for prudent fiscal management, diversification of the economy, the promotion of local production and entrepreneurship, the strengthening of institutions responsible for monetary policies and the implementation of measures to attract foreign investments that will stabilise the exchange rate and foster economic growth.
Speaking further, Alakpodia also advised the Federal Government on investing in youth empowerment programmes and addressing the root causes of insecurity, such as unemployment and poverty.
He called for concerted efforts to mitigate inflationary pressures through effective price control mechanisms, subsidies for essential commodities, and social welfare programs targeting vulnerable populations.
The Isoko North PDP Youth Leader also called for improvement in infrastructure, particularly in the transportation and energy sectors, to reduce the cost of goods and services and enhance overall living standards of the citizenry.
