An Assistant Superintendent of Police has been taken into detention for killing a lawyer and real estate consultant, Bolanle Raheem.
Two policemen, who were with the trigger-happy officer when the incident occurred in the Ajah area of the state on Sunday, were also said to have been detained.
It was learnt that that Raheem, her sister, and four children were returning from an eatery in their car around 11am when the policemen flagged them down under the Ajah Bridge.
The ASP said to have shot at the moving vehicle and a bullet hit the Raheem. She was said to have died in a hospital where she was rushed to.
A Twitter user, SPEAK IT FORTH, lamented that policemen attached to Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah had become notorious for brutality.
“So sad that this is happening again. I just wonder why the police officers at Ajiwe always act as if they’re above the law. Is it that no good reports can come out from Ajiwe police station? @PoliceNG should please do something about this. Look at it now, another life has gone,” he wrote.
The Police Public Relations Officer in The state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said investigation had commenced on the incident.
“Unfortunate and avoidable incident that was. The ASP that shot and two others with him have since been taken into custody. They are to be moved to the SCID for further investigation,” he said.
