Following the kidnapping of four children, the Ogwashi Uku village in Delta State’s Aniocha South Council area is in disarray.
According to reports from the region, three ladies who obtained emergency housing in the Umuokwe quarters last Monday are being blamed by the locals.
Ebube Nwafido, age six, and her sister Miracle, age three, are the offspring of the same parent. Two additional daughters, Excel, also known as Tinubu, age five, and Chimanda, age seven, are also the children of another parent.
On Friday, the women are accused of luring the kids by feigning to purchase biscuits from a well-known local grocery.
Earlier, the women had gone to Mrs. Bose Nwafido to enquire if she could tell them where to get lodging.
Nwafido lamented: “last Monday, the three women came asking me for a house to rent. I pointed to a direction but a moment later, one of them came back and said she drank Pepsi and zobo and that she was having a running stomach; that I should allow her make use of our toilet.

“I took the lady to back of our house where she defecated in a bush and thereafter she told me she was going to withdraw money from PoS to pay for the accommodation.
“The lady later came back when I left for market and carried my first son, 10-year-old Ifechukwude to know their house and that is how they started showing kindness to children around, unknown to many they had evil plan.”
According to her, she left the children on Friday morning for a program instructing them to play within the compound as usual.
“At about 12 noon, some children came back to say aunty want to buy biscuits for us.”

Subsequent research showed that neighbours were concerned when the kids and the other two were eventually nowhere to be seen around the property. By the time they went to the ladies’ flat, the room was deserted and neither the kids nor the residents were there.
Kingsley Nwafido, the father of Ebube and Miracle, and his wife, who are both severely traumatised, expressed amazement at the children’s abrupt abduction.
The kidnapping was verified by SP Bright Edafe, the state police public relations officer.
“Investigation is on”, Edafe assured.
