In Oyo State, a 28-year-old electrician who has not been identified was electrocuted.
According to information obtained by The Intercept, the person was electrocuted on Wednesday in Eruwa, which is located in the Ibarapa East local government district.
The town’s Odo Babaode neighbourhood is where the event took place.
A high-tension cable owned by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) electrocuted the victim.
The victim, an electrician, was attempting to fix an electrical problem on the active power lines without being cut off from the feeder when the tragedy happened, according to information obtained by The Intercept.

The development was confirmed by Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service.
According to Akinyinka, the agency got a distress call on Wednesday afternoon.
“The distressed call was reported at 15:29 hours on Wednesday, April 23, 2025,” he stated.

“The fire personnel led by PFS1 Peluola Babatunde quickly followed the caller and on arrival at the place, we met the victim already electrocuted, and all necessary precautionary measures were observed to safeguard the citizens within the vicinity.
“The man was recovered and handed over to a team of police from Eruwa police Station. The incident occurred when the victim (electrician) was trying to rectify electrical fault on the active power lines without shutting down the feeder”.
