Unknown gunmen are said to have shot and killed Akinola Oyabiyi, a health worker, close to Akure Airport in Eleyowo, in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a family member of Oyabiyi informed journalist on Friday that the 46-year-old health worker was killed by the gunmen on Tuesday night as he was on his way home.
She said, “The incident happened on Tuesday at about 8 pm when he was going home. The people attacked him. I think they were trying to kidnap him.

“He was shot in the belly and he died shortly after. We learnt the bandits came out from the bush and shot him in his car.”
When contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident and said the command was on the matter.
She said, “We are on top of the matter, and will get back to you soon.”
