The Deputy Majority leader and member representing Orumba North Constituency at the Anambra state house of assembly Hon. Emeka Aforka has called on the federal government to come to the rescue of Oko community in Orumba North LGA.
Hon. Aforka before seconding the motion for adjournment lamented over the natural disaster currently rocking the Oko community.
In his words, “I want to draw the attention of this honourable house to a very critical and serious situation of emergency in Oko community.
“My attention was drawn to a very serious at permanent site at Federal polytechnic Oko community.
“There is a natural disaster. People’s properties, an entire environment has collapsed. It is better seen than told. It is a terrify situation”. The majority leader cried out.
“Federal polytechnic Oko cannot afford to handle that erosion. It is a situation beyond the state government.
“I am seeing serious danger which will not only affect Anambra state but Nigeria as a whole because a lot of resources have been invested on that institution. The lives of our people are at stack.
“I am calling on the federal government and relivant agencies to come to the aid of Oko community and Ndi Orumba North.“ Aforka submitted
Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor while reacting to the erosion, sympathized with the staff and management of Oko Poly and Ndi Orumba North Constituency.
The Speaker urged Aforka to visit the erosion site and give the lawmakers update in the next plenary.
