Ahead of the 2023 presidential elections, aides of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi have added the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic to his initials, The Union Nigeria reports.
This was contained in a post on social by one of his aide, Alieze Ude Uzuakpunwa which reads, “His Excellency, President David Nweze Umahi, GCFR, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Governor Umahi is one of the South East Governors eyeing the presidency ahead of the 2023 elections.
Meanwhile, the post has generated backlash from Netizens.
A majority of the comments faults the Media Aide parading him as GCFR while President Muhammadu Buhari is still the President. “This is a punishable offense.”
“Trying to topple and/or undermine a sitting Government in whatever guise is not just a FAKE NEWS but a crime and treasonable offense.”
“If there’s law on fake News in Ebonyi State as being bandied by agents of the state government, this ‘govt boy’ should be arrested immediately and prosecuted.“
