The Senator representing Anambra Central at the 9th Assembly, Dr. Uche Ekwunife has described women as unifiers in the society.
Ekwunife in an interview with newsmen after the maiden symposium of Emeka Anyaoku institute of international studies and diplomacy held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka stated that a woman is a builder and developer.
Sen. Ekwunife urged women to continue to work hard and put God first.
Speaking why the gender bill failed at the Senate, Ekwunife revealed that the bill failed because the men did not support the bill because of culture, religion, tradition, custom and other reasons.
In her words “We lobbied very viguriously but unfortunately many men voted against it.
“We will continue to represent those bills sooner than later they will realize the need for us to have at least 35 percent of women in government.”
