Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma has ordered the contractor handling the Nekede/Ihiagwa road to refund the mobilization fee of 1.4 billion naira, for failing to keep up with contractual agreement.
The Governor mandated the Attorney general of Imo state Chief Sir C.O.C Akaolisa to press on banks to, immediately, refund their guaranteed mobilization fee to the contractor.
Describing the project as an eyesore with the rains, Uzodinma assured that immediately after the rains he would re-award the contract for the construction of the road to a firm he deems competent.
The governor stated that it was very unfortunate that the contractor had failed the people after collecting mobilization fee of N1.4 Billion Naira.
Briefing news men, the governor also said the state government was working hard to realize the passage of 2021 Annual budget before the end of the year so as to benefit from the gains that accrues to states that meets the deadline for timely passage of budget from Federal government and international donors.
The state government also banned mining and dredging by individuals, or group of Companies in Imo state without first submitting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) certificate to the Ministry of Environment for approval.
The Imo state government also banned of all manners of levies in primary and secondary schools in the state.
The EXCO warned that any (Principal or Head Master) discovered to indulge in collection of illegal fees will be summarily dealt with.
In the same vein, the governor approved the set-up of a special committee headed by the commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Francis Dibiagu, to collect every relevant data on private secondary and primary schools in Imo state.
