On the 30th of April, 2022, Mrs Abidemi Akinyele discovered a strange illness in her four years old daughter, Oluwajomiloju Taiwo when she immediately took her to Mother & Child hospital in Akure to know what was happening to her.
As Oluwajomiloju’s health condition could not be handled there, she was referred to the State General Hospital, Akure, Ondo State where the mother again was directed to carry the child to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo for treatment.
At (FMC), the petty trader said her daughter’s Chest X-ray was drawn out and the doctor disclosed that a hole was in the heart of the four-year-old girl which resulted from a Symptomatic Congenital Heart Disease.
“When we were discharged after treatments, I carried Jomiloju back to the hospital because she was bleeding. Then on 21 Aug 2022, Dr Samuel gave us a transfer note referring us to (OAUTHC), Ife.” Mrs Abidemi noted.
On getting to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), she reaffirmed that the test still showed the same indication of Tetralogy of Fallot for possible open heart surgery.
She said, “When we got to Ife, the doctors first assisted with little treatment without charging us, but they told us a heart surgery will be carried out on my daughter and this will cost us 5million naira.”
Withdrawal From School— Health And Financial Reasons
Ever since the illness started, Oluwajomiloju Taiwo could not continue with her elementary education at Great Vision Nursery and Primary School, Akure, Ondo State because her parents have spent all their resources to restore the health of their daughter.
“Our child’s health is important, we have stopped her academics for now as a result of lack of resources to cater for her current health challenges.”
“We need assistance to pay for the surgery. Maybe later she would return to school to seek and achieve her future aspiration to become a medical doctor,” her mother disclosed.
My Plea To The General Public
Mrs Abidemi Akinyele who hailed from Ifaki, Ekiti, is based in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State. She pleaded for help from generous individuals in the country and beyond to assist in reviving the health of her daughter.
“I have spent over N200,000 thousand on my daughter’s illness. I am a petty trader and her father is a driver. Where am I going to see the huge amounts of money the doctor asked us to bring for the operation?”
“Nigerians should please have mercy and help me with financial support in saving the life of my little daughter Oluwajomiloju Taiwo,” Mrs Abidemi pleaded.
