The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano State has arrested popular TikTok star, Murja Ibrahim Kunya.
She was arrested and charged with Naira mutilation and abuse, specifically for spraying money, an act that violates Nigerian law.
A source within the commission confirmed to Freedom Radio Kano that Murja is currently in EFCC custody.
The EFCC has been intensifying its crackdown on individuals who engage in the indiscriminate spraying of money at events such as parties and birthday celebrations.

Recently, the commission also arrested other TikTok influencers, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, on similar charges.
As of now, neither the EFCC nor Murja Ibrahim Kunya’s legal representatives have issued an official statement regarding the matter.
In February, two TikTokers in Kano State were sentenced to one year in prison or a fine of N100,000 each for posting videos deemed vulgar and offensive to religious and moral values.
A magistrates’ court in Kano, located at No. 47 in Norman’s Land, Fagge Local Government Area ruled in the hearing.
Tiktokers, Ahmad Isa and Maryam Musa, both residents of Ladainai in Hotoro Quarters, were arrested by the Kano State Censorship Board and subsequently arraigned before the court.
The prosecution, led by state counsel Barr. Garzali Maigari Bichi, charged them with criminal conspiracy and the distribution of illicit content on social media. Both defendants pleaded guilty.
Presiding over the case, Justice Hadiza Muhammad Hassan handed down the sentence and urged the convicts to uphold good conduct.
