Actor Daniel Etim-Effiong and his wife Toyosi have shared their thoughts on the actor’s romantic kiss with actress Bolaji Ogunmola in a promotional video for a movie.
The video sparked a mixed reaction on social media in January. While some users praised the on-screen chemistry between Effiong and Ogunmola, others criticized the actor for allegedly “disrespecting his wife”.
Ogunmola responded to the backlash by clarifying that the promotional content was part of her contractual obligations as an actress.
She emphasized that the video was filmed in the presence of many people, including cameramen, and that Effiong was acting in his role as Adimchi, not as a husband.

In a recent podcast, Daniel Etim-Effiong asked his wife how she handled the controversy surrounding the kiss.
Toyosi revealed that she didn’t see the promotional video immediately and only found out about the controversy when she saw headlines checking on her mental health.
She said she took no offence to the kiss, explaining that she views her husband’s on-screen performances as acting.
The YouTuber emphasized that she trusts her husband and doesn’t feel the need to monitor his on-screen interactions with other actresses.
“You know the interesting is. It is hard to believe. I did not even know there was noise. Because I did not go to those places. It is Apostle Joshua Selman, my American people, my business group people, those are the people that come on my timeline. I am not on these platforms,”
she said.
“You know when I found out? Usually, because some of these things stay on Instagram or Twitter, they are not on news platforms, unlike actual sites. I get Google alerts for things on actual sites. It will not send me things on Instagram.
“Some people took those things and put them on their actual website. So, I saw check on Toyosi’s mental health’. I was like, where are we this time? I even ignored it that night. It was on the following day.”
She said Bolaji reached out to her after the controversy, asking if she was angry about the kiss.
Toyosi said she assured the actress that she saw the kiss as a mere acting performance, not a personal betrayal.
“It was Bolaji who reached out and sent me the video because we have been talking about ‘Summer Rain’ from last year when she was thinking about doing it. So, I was asking how is the PR going, how can we support,” she asked.
“She was just like ‘Are you not angry with me?’ I said why? She said ‘are you serious? I have not been able to reach out. I thought you were angry with me’. I then asked her to send me the video.
“It was like I was watching a movie. It was not me watching my husband. That is what many people do not get.
“When you are on screen, I am not seeing Daniel. There is this assumption that people have that I am obsessed. I am sitting down and watching your movies. That I have to mark each girl.
“Outside is outside. You are my husband. You are my God-ordained husband. Any kiss you want to kiss.”
