WARRI: Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted a man identified simply as Comrade Izu Monday who is the Chairman Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities SSANU, Delta State University, Abraka.
The Union Nigeria gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday evening.
Sources said that, “the varsity Don was whisked away along the Abraka-Eku road, by his kidnappers.”
It was not clear if the kidnappers had established contact with the family for ransom.
“Residents around of the area are urging security’s Operatives to step up patrol in the area as they said that there has been upsurge in kidnapping within the University environment and environs”.
When contacted for comment, the Delta State Police command confirmed the incident on Fridays evening to our correspondent.
The state police public relations officer PPRO, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the kidnap of the Chairman Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, of the Delta State University, Abraka, Comrade Izu, Monday.
“She said yes, “the incident occurred on Thursday, efforts are on to track the kidnappers and secure his release.”
