A 20-year-old groom Auwal Abdulwahab and his three friends have been taken into custody by the Jigawa State Police Command on charges of forcing his wife into an unwanted sexual encounter.
SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the event in a statement provided to The Intercept.
According to him, the event took place in Tungo village, Albasu District, Sule Tankarkar local government, on April 26, 2025, at around 2200 hours.
According to Shiisu, the recently married guy is accused of planning an incident against his spouse just a few days after their nuptials.
According to him, “the groom is alleged to have conspired with his three friends namely Nura Basiru, Muttaka Lawan and Hamisu Musa, entered into their matrimonial home with the intention of coercing his bride into non-consensual sexual activity, while in the process, the said wife died.”

According to him, the bride and her husband had apparently argued on marital relations before to their wedding, according to the results of their preliminary inquiry.
According to Shiisu, a team of police officers raced to the area as soon as they received the information, took the body to Gumel General Hospital for a medical examination, and the on-call physician verified her death.
According to him, the four suspects in the case have been caught and placed under arrest for a confidential inquiry, and the body has been given to her parents for burial.

CP AT Abdullahi, the Commissioner of Police for Jigawa State Police Command, has ordered that the matter be forwarded right away to the State CID Dutse for a covert investigation.
Following the conclusion of the inquiry, each suspect will face appropriate charges.
The suspects will face two charges under relevant laws of the jurisdiction, including criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide,” he said.
