Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police, has arrested 30 years old Gambo Yakubu for defamation of character, fraud and impersonation of Super Eagles star, Ahmed Musa.
Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said the arrest followed a complaint received from one Musa Muhammad, Manager of Ahmed Musa Sport Centre, Hotoro Quarters, Kano.
According to the complaint, one Gambo Yakubu, 30 years old of Brigade Quarters Kano and former worker at the said Sport Centre, was parading himself as former captain of Super Eagles by name Ahmad Musa.
He alleged that the arrested Gambo had forged documents bearing the name of Ahmed Musa and defrauds innocent members of the public.
“On receipt of this complaint, the Commissioner of Police Kano State Command, CP Habu A. Sani, psc raised and directed a Team of detectives led by CSP Abdulkarim Abdullahi, to arrest the culprit.”
“On the 20/12/2020, the suspect was arrested and freely confessed to have defrauded more than fifteen (15) innocent citizens by collecting money from them pretending to be Ahmad Musa, selling forms at Five Thousand Naira (N5000) each to youths who want to play football abroad.”
“He collected over Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N700,000) and spent the money in Hotels on his girlfriends in Sabon Gari area of Kano.” The police spokesman narrated.
Meanwhile Ahmed Musa has paid a visit to CP Habu A. Sani, psc, to appreciate the efforts of the Command in making Kano State Safe and promises to give all necessary support for Community Policing.
