Musa Wada, a 45-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the horrific murder of his student, claimed that he mutilated him to hide his shame.
A statement made by Police Public Relations Officer of Jigawa State Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said that the suspect, a Quranic teacher from Jikas-Dabaja village, was arrested on March 13, 2025, after receiving a tip.
According to preliminary investigations, Wada allegedly punished Bashir Adamu for missing school on multiple occasions, causing the boy to lose consciousness during the punishment.

The boy allegedly died after losing consciousness during the punishment, and Wada allegedly mutilated the corpse to deceive the public by severing the victim’s head and genital organs before disposing of the remains by the side of the road.
The horrific discovery was first reported to the Gwaram Divisional Police Headquarters on March 12, 2025, when residents found a decomposing, beheaded body abandoned along the Jikas-Dabaja village road.
Further investigation led to the identification of the victim as one of Wada’s students.

The suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody.
The state police command assured the public that the suspect would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
