WARRI: Hoodlums yet-to-be identified have murdered a male student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Council Area of Delta State.
The Union Nigeria learnt that the incident reportedly occurred on Saturday evening, on campus grounds.
Sources said that, “the deceased (student) and his girlfriend went to settled an issue with a lecturer, on their way back, a gang of boys numbering four attacked the student and dragged him into a nearby bush”.
Details of the incident were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, but there are speculations that it may be a cult-related activity.
Sources also said that, “they saw several cuts on the head of the student (deceased) who was sprawled on a dirt path”.
When contacted for comment, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the incident on Sunday evening to correspondent.
She said, “Yes It is true. The report is that the girl (girlfriend of deceased) said she and her boyfriend went to settle scores with one lecturer somewhere and as they were coming out of the place, about four people dragged the boyfriend into the bush.
“She was the one that ran to the Police to report. When the police got there, whether he was stabbed with an axe and all those things.
“So Police took him to the hospital and doctor confirmed that he was already dead,” the PPRO said.
