David Parradang, a former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, was shot dead in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Intercept was informed by a service source that he had passed away and that arrangements were in place to pay his family a sympathy visit.
“I don’t know exactly how he died, but we are planning to visit his family to offer our condolences,” the source said.
As of the time this article was filed, Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, had not responded to a request for comment.

Similarly, A.S. Akinlabi, the Nigerian Immigration Service spokesperson, promised The Intercept that he would return calls, but as of the time of this story, he had not done so either.
However, Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency specialist, said that Parradang was kidnapped early on Tuesday in the Area 1 axis of Abuja.

According to Makama, Parradang was slain by his attackers after they followed him from a bank where he had taken out cash.
“The tragic incident has raised fresh concerns over security in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly regarding the increasing cases of kidnappings and targeted attacks,” Makama stated in a post.
Prior to his appointment as Comptroller-General, Parradang, who spent more than 30 years with the NIS, held a number of posts around the nation.
