Some politicians’ stock in trade is to feed unsuspecting members of the public with gibberish and falsehood for the sole purpose of stealing their votes.
The Deputy senate President; Ovie Omo AGEGE has been going about in his campaign drive with the message of revisiting the sale of Delta Steel Company Aladja which according to the senator , is an injustice inflicted on the people of Urhobo land where the company is located and Delta state in general. There is no disputing the assertion that the sale of DSC is flawed economically, socially and politically. The dumbest amongst us acknowledges this fact.
So the big question for Senator Ovie is that how come that a fraudulent transaction about such an important flagship project is only catching his attention in an election season.
The Deputy Senate President has been in the red chambers representing Delta Central Senatorial District where Delta Steel Company is located and he is expected to ventilate the grievances and pains of his people before the federal government. It is incontestable that there no injustice that is as hurting to the people of Urhobo as the fraudulent sale and liquidation of DSC after its establishment has exploited overriding public policy in appropriating the lands of the locals without compensation.
It is very ironical that the once viable industry established by the federal government to provide employment and grow the economy of the entire state was sold by the federal governments of president Olusengun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan ostensibly in flawed circumstances for more than fifteen years ago and yet it didn’t capture the immediate attention of Senator Ovie Omo AGEGE for the close to 8 years he has been in the red chambers except in the twilight of the government in an election season.
An issue that fall within the purview of the federal government where he is the 5th highest political office holder in the country which he couldn’t either visit out of either cowardice or indifference, has now become an issue of feigned concern to him for the sole purpose of misleading voters that he cares so much for their plight to deceptively get their votes.
Is not strange that an issue that he could not address as a high ranking federal officer, is what he is now posturing to handle when he becomes a state governor even when the said item is outside the constitutional powers of a state governor .
The posturing of the righting of the fraudulent sale of DSC is one obvious matter which clearly reveals the hypocrisy of the votes seeking APC governorship candidate.
Certainly if he succeeds again in hoodwinking us to get our votes, the DSC might only be revisited by him rhetorically in another election cycle.
Deltans be wise, once beaten twice shy.
