Last week, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma celebrated one-year anniversary as the governor of Imo State.
This celebration attracted many including the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari (who was virtually present) and the Vice President Yemi Osibanjo.
Also present was the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawal, Ekiti State Governor, Governor Kayode Fayemi who doubles as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni among others.
These dignitaries graced the anniversary and partook in commissioning some projects in the State which include Dick Tiger Road, Naze/Nekede/Ihiagwa Road, Assumpta to Hospital Road junction, World Bank to Federal Secretariat Road among others.
It is remarkable that the governor was able to achieve these projects just within one year in office in comparison with what was the standard before his emergence.
This calls for a well deserving “thank you” we therefore say, thank you Your Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma for a job well done.
The celebration continued through the week. However, while rejoicing with His Excellency, this piece is a call for cooperation between the Imo State Government led by Senator Hope Uzodinma and ndi Imo.
This is important as there is no going back with the fact that His Excellency has come to stay as the Governor of Imo State.
Consequently, we plead with you to continue with people-oriented projects as this would impact the socio-economic welfare of ndi Imo and the State in general.
Your Excellency, it is time to rebuild Imo from years of neglect. It is not time to reward evil with evil. It is time Sir, to extend your hand of fellowship bearing in mind that it is only God that has crowned you Governor.
Please ensure that civil servants and retirees receive their outstanding salaries and pensions. There should be no need for anyone to feel threatened because they work or have worked for Imo State. Instead, there should be joy for services rendered.
There is also the need to look into the alleged “ghost worker” stigma of both serving and retired civil servants. His Excellency, some have invested their entire life for the progress of Imo State in one way or the other hence should be entitled to their benefits.
Your Excellency, you should also ensure the promotion of peace and security in Imo State as without peace, no society would function and be productive. It is of essence that the youths especially, are fully engaged positively therefore, we call on you to harness every given opportunity to make sure that some are not engaged in vices that would inhibit the socio-economic growth of Imo State. The Paper Packaging Factory in Eberi Owerri and the Imo Shoe Industries Abo-Mbaise as well as that in Okigwe Road among others could be a boaster to your government.
Ndi Imo, having listed some abandoned projects that we feel His Excellency should look into, we use this opportunity to ask that you reach out and tell us on such abandoned projects you need the governor to revamp.
You can also reach out on projects in your zones you think would impact the socio-economic development of your people as His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma is available to address such. It is time to sing a new song; songs of of progress, songs of development and unity.
Songs not of war but of peace and stability. Let our parents teach us this new song. Let the government sing this song. The society at large should sing this song continually. Let us give peace a chance as it is time to rebuild Imo State.
Your Excellency, you should also remember that the “rule of law” is supreme and that you would be measured with the same standard by which you are reaching out to others today after your tenure in office. One thing must be said though, and that is that you are setting a positive precedent.
Always remember that you are the Hope of Imo State!
On the other hand, ndi Imo should focus in the development of their State. This is important as His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma has come to stay.
This fact is established when the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo admonished the governor to remember that his position as governor was not as a result of his being smart but through the grace of God.
You should know that whatever has sprang forth in Imo political space is a political chess game where big elephants involved really have nothing to lose and that it would always be ndi Imo at the losing end.
Ndi Imo should focus on the deal that Hope Uzodinma has come with. The evidence of such deal is seen in the calibre of stakeholders in the Nigerian polity that graced this one-year anniversary. Do not be losers ndi Imo as His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma has come with the green light of hope that will take Imo State to limelight.
Hope Uzodinma is willing and ready to develop Imo!
We trust that His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma would not toe the part of dishonour, deceit and failure like is predecessors. May we dare remind His Excellency that he should be mindful of the fact that not all that he has called to serve in his cabinet is a patriot with a true course to serve ndi Imo.
You should also know that not all surrounding you want to see you succeed. Some are sheep in wolves’ clothing Your Excellency. On this account, we implore you to always listen to the yearnings of ndi Imo as it is on their mandate you stand.
Also remember that the essence of a father is to see that his children and land develop and prosper. You have come to stay Your Excellency. Remember that this only came to pass through the grace of God.
For us “The Concerned Citizens”, we will leverage on this platform to bridge any envisaged gap between ndi Imo and their Governor, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
More so, we believe that Mr. Governor will listen to wisdom hence, not only write his name in gold but would be remembered as one of the transformative leaders of our time.
Your Excellency, always remember that you became governor by the grace of God. You should therefore, distinguish yourself by not being anti-human as have been the case in Imo State.
Rather, you should ensure that enduring policies are in place for posterity to remember you. There are some projects that are said to be ongoing as well as those that have been abandoned. Please Your Excellency, these projects should be a means of scoring big political points for your government.
Always remember De Sam in all you do as you would only be remembered by the works you have done. Forget detractors and ensure that ndi Imo benefit from your presence in Douglas House.
Remember Your Excellency, that it’s time to rebuild Imo.
