Veteran Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo, has accused Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, of putting the economic soul of Rivers State on halt.
Dokubo stated this while reacting to the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy for six months.
President had announced a state of emergency in Rivers State and also suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and House of Assembly members for six months.
While addressing the nation on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, Tinubu stated that his decision came “after evaluating the political crisis in the state,” a development that has garnered diverse reactions across the country.

However, reacting in a post on her Instagram page, Hilda Dokubo described the President’s action as shameless, stating that he should admit he wants to annex Rivers State.
“State of emergency because for two years we have had peace!
State of emergency because you want to capture the economic soul of Rivers State!
State of emergency because of one man?
Shameless! Perhaps Mr. President should say he wants to annex Rivers State.”
“The Animal Farm by George Orwell should be given to every Rivers State citizen as palliative. Meantime, someone tell Mr Jones to rein in his pigs.”
On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu proclaimed a State of Emergency, citing pipeline vandalism and the failure of stakeholders to address the state’s political issue in spite of several interventions.
Sir Similanayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has departed Government House in Port Harcourt.
The governor left on Wednesday morning, according to sources who spoke to journalists.
In a similar vein, Admiral Ekwe Ibas (rtd), the recently appointed sole administrator of the state, is currently getting ready to return to duty.
When our reporter went to Government House on Wednesday morning, he or she saw that it was quiet. There were at least three armoured personnel carriers positioned at the Government House’s front entrance.
According to a security source, all of the Government House’s security staff have been taken out and replaced, indicating a change of guard at the seat of power.
