Top Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, aka Spyro, believes that many gospel artists are in the music business to make money.
He claimed that there was no difference between the gospel artists and their secular counterparts, who perform for financial gratification.
The self-acclaimed ‘Jesus boy’ made the claim in a recent episode of Hip TV programme, Trending, hosted by Pascal.
He said, “The people that claim to be gospel artists or gospel ministers are just artists -they are in the business to make money just like us in the Afrobeats industry.”

Spyro also spoke on the pressure female artists face in the music industry.
“There is a lot of pressure on female artists to do crazy things. Tems is holding it down decently yet she is one of the biggest [female artists] in the world right now. She is decent. She has it together.

“Sometimes, I’m just like, how is she able to do this? We should put Tems out there for our young ladies to be looking up to as a role model,” he said.
In February, Spyro alleged that he is being threatened with his alleged sex tape.
Spyro accused unknown religious figures of hiding behind their faith to cover up their deceitful actions.
Expressing his frustration, the singer explained that the blackmail attempt came after he confronted an individual online for a wrongdoing.
“Don’t be deceived, the biggest scams and liars are the ones at the top of religious ladders.
They perpetrate evil and quote holy books to support their wrongs and then the emotional games and threats. The deception is on another level.
I once called out someone for wrongdoing me and the next day, the person started confessing scriptures.
“In the same vein, sending threat messages about releasing my sex tapes and how they have a girl claiming she’s pregnant for me.”
