Prominent gospel singer and radio talk show personality Bolaji Adedotun Olanrewaju, aka Big Bolaji, has passed away.
He died on Saturday, April 19, after a brief illness, spreading gloominess across social media and the music industry.
In November 2024, Big Bolaji celebrated his 50th birthday, marking a significant achievement in his life. His death has left a huge void in the gospel music scene, where he was known for his impactful ministry and engaging personality.

A statement issued by his family reads:
“Official Statement from the Family of Bolaji Olarewaju. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji. Olarewaju, affectionately known as “Big B,” a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church community, an ordained Pastor in the RCCG and a giant in the music industry and our commynity.”
“Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2025, after a brief illness. Details regarding the obsequies will be shared in due course as we come together to celebrate. In other news, former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu has passed on at the age of 74.
Reports reveal that the prominent figure in Nigerian football died on Saturday, April 11, 2025, but details surrounding his death remain unclear.
His longtime teammate and friend, Dr. Olusegun Odegbami, confirmed the development.
Odegbami, who won the 1980 Africa Nation Cup with Chukwu, said:
“I just received the news that between 9:00 and 10:00 this morning, ‘Chairman’ Christian Chukwu, MFR, my bosom friend and teammate, one of the greatest football players in Nigeria’s history, has passed on.
Babuje, Emmanuel Okala, MON, gave me the sad news a few minutes ago. May ‘Onyim’ find peace with Our Creator in Heaven and console his family.”
Christian Chukwu was a towering figure in Nigerian football, first as a player and later as a coach.
