The Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Honorable Ahmed Wase has been accused of chasing away a project tracker from his community for holding him accountable.
In a tweet, Thursday, @TrackaNG stated that the Deputy Speaker, Wase denied their tracking officer access to track 2020 Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIPs), on Wednesday at Wase federal constituency, Plateau state.
The tweet reads, “@HouseNGR – @HonWase – is against legislative transparency in constituency project tracking in his constituency.
“He personally chased away @TrackaNG tracker from his community for holding him accountable. Nigerians, will we allow this? RT
In another tweet by @TrackaNG, “EXPOSED!!! Dear Nigerians @HonAhmedWase denied our tracking officer access to track 2020 ZIPs yesterday at Wase federal constituency, Plateau state.
“He asked her to leave the community immediately. Every citizen has the right to ask how public funds are spent. #AskQuestions”
More details on the event emerged in a tweet by Mawa Foundation.
The tweet reads, “you don’t have right to track my constituency projects, leave wase community immediately before something terrible happens to you, Hon. Ahmed Wase’s PA said.”
While efforts to reach the Deputy Speaker at press time proved abortive, Hon. Ahmed who reached out to Mawa Foundation in response to a text message sent to him, said he has never at any time stopped anybody from inspecting his constituency project, saying he is a man of integrity.
Tracka is a project by @BudgITng which enables citizens to collaborate, track and give feedback on public projects in their community.
