Senate President Ahmed Lawan has declared that the Senate will receive reports on the long awaited Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and Electoral Amendment Act upon resumption from Easter break.
Lawan gave the indication after he formerly adjourned plenaries for lawmakers to proceed on the Easter break.
This means the passage of both bills into law may come earlier than anticipated by Nigerians.
“We are working very hard to ensure that we receive the reports as soon as we resume plenaries in April.
“Our committee on the review of the constitution under the chairmanship of the deputy president of the Senate, is working round the clock. In fact, even tomorrow I think there will be a meeting as announced here.
“The serving INEC Committee are working very hard”, said Lawan who noted the various committees will continue to work during the break.
“The Easter break will last from today 25th March to 13th April 2021. He said Senate will resume on Tuesday 13th of April, 2021.
